Worker injured in bakery

A bakery in Heathfield has launched an investigation after an employee suffered arm injuries in an accident at work.

The worker in his 20’s was airlifted to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital after his arm became caught in an industrial mixing machine on Wednesday 2nd December.

Fire crews were called to the scene where they used hydraulic cutting equipment to make room for the man to be freed and treated by paramedics.

Owner of the factory Graham March, who was not present at the time of the injury said: “Obviously the man was taken to hospital.”

“I am led to believe he has not broken any bones or has any muscle or nerve damage but it’s just skin damage on his forearm.”

“The Health and Safety Executive has been informed, as they always would be, and we are also investigating.”
