A women has won an undisclosed amount after doctors missed diagnosing her partners tumour. The case is the first of it’s kind where a civil partner has successfully claimed compensation following the loss of a loved one.

Liz Austin’s lover Tina Lane 42, died from ovarian cancer after a temporary clerical assistant filed away a crucial scan detailing Lane’s tumour. The consultant never saw the results.
Ms Austin claimed against Winchester and Eastleigh Healthcare NHS Trust and Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust for medical negligence.
A spokesperson for both Trust’s said: “Each trust has investigated this matter extensively with a view to ensuring the quality of their healthcare services continually improves.”
