A woman from the Worcester area has begun a medical negligence claim after doctors found a seven inch pair of forceps in her abdomen.

Donna Bowett, a nurse from Redditch underwent routine surgery to remove her gall bladder at Alexandra Hospital, Redditch. After returning home Ms Bowett suffered extreme abdominal pain and was taken back to hospital for an x-ray. The results showed the metal surgical tool left by the surgeons from her previous surgery.

The chief executive of the hospital John Rostill expressed his deepest apologies to Ms Bowett. In a statement to a local newspaper he assured that the incident has been investigated and relevant safety measures have been put in place to prevent further accidents of this nature happening again.
