Two men in their 20’s have been killed after being hit by a freight train. The pair were travelling on a quad bike on the railway line in Rumney, Cardiff.
British Transport Police (BTP) are investigating in incident. A spokesperson for BTP said the train accident happened at around 4.15am this morning. The train was travelling at 70mph when it collided with the men.
‘Inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident,’ the spokesman added.
A Network Rail spokesperson said the train services to Cardiff had been disrupted by the incident, but the majority were now up and running again. They went on to say: ”There are still some reduced services between Portsmouth and Cardiff because there was some damage to the track and we are carrying out work on that.”
