A driver of a petrol tanker has died in a work accident after his vehicle plunged 40ft into Faskally Loch, Perthshire.
Fifty four year old Andrew Raeside had been travelling from Inverness to Grangemouth in the early hours of Thursday 4th February.
The empty tanker jack-knifed in the road crashing into a barrier and completely demolishing it. The vehicle then came off the road with the cab landing in the loch below.
Passers by notified the emergency services after seeing debris on the road. Rescuers quickly freed Mr Raeside from the partially submerged cab but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police closed the A9 for the majority of the day to investigate the circumstances of the road accident. No other vehicles were involved.
