An injured girl had to be carried down a hill in a remote part of Shropshire after a sledging accident.
Members of the public helped paramedics carry the girl on a spinal board, a quarter of a mile down a snowy hill to a waiting ambulance. The ambulance then had to reverse half a mile to get to the nearest road.
It is thought the girl hit a tree in Earls Nature Reserve in Pontesbury on Sunday 10th January.
A spokesperson for the ambulance service said: “Unfortunately, access to the nature reserve was very limited and the nearest gate could not be opened.”
“When the patient was returned to the bottom of the hill, she was lifted over the gate to the awaiting ambulance, which had managed to get as close as possible on a track.”
The girl received treatment at the scene for pelvic and rib injuries. She was taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further treatment.
