A 48 year old man has died after being hit by a van in a car park in Hertfordshire.
Eye witnesses said they saw the victim stumble in the poorly lit car park, he bumped his head on the kerb before being hit by a reversing van.
Sam Visram a shop owner in the area heard someone shout that there had been an accident in the car park. Mr Visram ran out with a blanket to cover the injured man who he identified as Mr Wood, a resident of one of the houses opposite the car park.
Mr Visram contacted Mr Wood’s family to inform them of the pedestrian accident. He also informed the parents of the young van driver as he was too distraught to talk to them himself.
The tragic incident happened at 6.15pm on Friday 29th January. Police closed the car park to carry out forensics. The driver of the van has at yet not been charged.
