Two women aged 17 and 37 have been injured after a part of a tube train came loose and slashed their faces.

The train entered Mile End station in east London on Tuesday 17th November. The two women where stood on the platform when a plastic barrier between two carriages broke and hit them across the head.

The women were taken to hospital with facial lacerations and head injuries.

A Transport for London spokesperson said: “A protective vinyl barrier that stretches between two carriages came loose from a westbound Central Line train at Mile End and injured three customers, two of whom went to hospital.”

“Safety is our top priority and we have an excellent safety record, we are investigating this incident, which is very rare.”

Reports that the train part had been faulty prior to the accident have been confirmed by Transport for London. They went on to say that all trains across the network are being checked for similar faults.

The victims may be pursuing an accident compensation claim for the personal injuries that they have sustained in this bizarre incident.
