Charity cyclist dies in crash

A women has been arrested in connection with a fatal car accident involving two cyclists. The collision happened in Okehampton, Devon on the eastbound carriageway of the A30 near the Fingle Glen junction by Tedburn St Mary, at around 8.40am.

The two cyclists, both male, have been said to be taking part in a sponsored bike ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats when the incident happened. One of the cyclists, a man in his 30’s, died at hospital. The other is being treated for cuts and bruises.

Police closed the road in both directions to make way for the air ambulance. Both men were taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. The 22 year old woman car driver was later released on bail until December 7th 09.
