If you are a car driver that is involved in an accident that was caused by the fault of another vehicle, you can claim compensation for loss and personal injuries caused by the accident. In some cases car accidents are not caused by driver error, but by dangerous road conditions. This could include pot holes, surface water caused by blocked drains or ice and snow. In these cases you may be able to make a personal injury compensation claim against the Highways Authority. The Highways Authority has a duty to maintain the roads and to ”ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that safe passage along a highway is not endangered by snow or ice”.
