Boy hospitalised after fall in icy pond
A six year old boy was airlifted to hospital on Tuesday 6th January after falling through ice on a pond.
The alarm was raised by another youth who saw the boy fall into the freezing water in a garden in Berkshire. Fire fighters found the boy under water, he had been missing for 30 minutes.
The youngster was taken to John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford to be treated.
Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: “We are investigating the cause of the incident. I believe the family were alerted that he had gone into the pond, and he was found by the fire and rescue service.”
Unfortunately this is one of many accidents caused by the current adverse weather conditions being experienced in the UK. Hospitals throughout the UK have been dealing with high volumes of injuries caused by slips and trips on ice some of which may result in slip on ice claims.
