A five year old boy has died after suffering serious injuries from falling off a childs motorbike he was given as a Christmas present.
The boy was riding around a locked car-park belonging to Carmarthen Livestock Centre in west Wales. His father was with him at the time of the motorbike accident.
The model of motorbike has not yet been disclosed but it is thought to have been electric and fitted with stabilizers. Shockingly some children’s motorised vehicle’s can reach speeds of 30mph.
The owner of the car park who has asked not to be named was called to scene by the police. He said: ”It was locked up but it would be easy for anyone to get in. I had a phone call from the police asking me to go to the site to turn the lights on.”
”The accident happened at about 3.30pm and it was soon dark so they needed to see what had happened.”
”I was told a young lad had come off his motorised bike which was bought for him as a Christmas present.”
The family of the young boy were being comforted by a police family liaison. This tragic story is unfortunately becoming more frequent with the increased popularity of motorised toys.
