Eye Injury Claims
The eyes are an extremely sensitive part of the body, and are vulnerable to a host of different injuries. Such eye injuries can range from minor irritation and discomfort to permanent loss of sight.
The most common cause of eye injury claims are when foreign objects come in contact with the eye. This could include small objects such as glass, wood chippings, gravel or even dust particles. These types of situations can cause scratches, cuts, irritation, impairment of vision or permanent blindness.
Eye injuries can also be caused by being hit with larger objects such as work tools, sports equipment or even a fist during a criminal assault.
Eye injuries caused by work accidents
Work accidents are the most common cause of eye injuries in the UK. If you work in an environment which may be prone to eye injuries, such as a dusty environment, you should be provided with protective eye wear to minimise the risk of eye injuries. Equally, if you work with dangerous chemicals, or use power tools which may result in flying debris, you should also be supplied with sufficient personal protective equipment (PPE). If you are not provided with such equipment, and suffer an eye injury as a result, your employer may be held liable for your eye injury claim.
